Heavy and Toxic Metal Determinations
Heavy and toxic metals, such as lead, are a serious issue if left unchecked in manufacturing. The health effects vary but are always detrimental to health and the environment and could cause a serious backlash to a brand if any are present in a product that may be ingested, breathed in or used by someone other than a skilled professional. Therefore, it is vital to be sure of any presence of toxic metals as well as the quantities in order to adhere to health guidelines and not negatively impact business reputation. This is done by AAS (Atomic Absorption spectrophotometry) or ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass spectrometry). LPD Lab Services have extensive experience in these jobs; examples of such are shown below:
- Lead in paint analysis for disposal and Health and Safety during removal.
- Copper, Chromium and Arsenic (CCA - Chromated Copper Arsenate) determinations from scrap wood.
- Chromium 6 Cr(VI) measurement by UV-Vis colorimetic methods.
- Lead Chromate determinations and analysis.
- Mercury determinations.
