Unknown Contamination Identification
LPD Lab Services has the capability to analyse and identify unknown contaminants to determine the cause of blockages, assess the efficacy of a cleaning process and find the source of contaminants. This prevents future problems arising and can lead to product improvement and enhanced process efficiency. Examples of this work are:
- Contamination on circuit board soldering joints
- Contamination on manufacturing automotive parts
- Contamination in water and process feed pipes
- Analysis of fine metallic fragment contamination in Healthcare products
- Effectiveness of an aqueous degreasing process evaluated and improved by XPS.
- Analysis of organic and inorganic particle contamination in Healthcare and other products.
- Analysis of metal wear particles in lubricating oil and type matching against component alloys by SEM / EDX to determine the source of the wear particles.
- Build-up of debris or corrosion in pipes, fittings and valves.
- Identification of residual oil, grease and cleaning detergent residues or stains on surfaces by FTIR, FTIR Microscopy or pyrolysis GC-MS,
