Construction and Building Facilities Failure Investigations
LPD Lab Services conducts a whole range of different analytical and root cause failure investigations for the construction industry, its consultants, building and facilities engineers from new building developments to refurbishments. This involves investigating a variety of chemicals, materials and infrastructral components such as runs of pipework.
- Root cause investigation of powder and paint coating delamination from steel architectural structures.
- Resin driveway cracking and break up failure investigations checked by FTIR.
- Chilled water pipe water burst and corrosion investigations.
- Phenolic foam pipe insulation water leakages.
- Acetal push-fit plumbing fitting component failures including flux residue contamination.
- Lead in paint accredited analysis by AAS for Health and Safety or hazardous waste assessment before redecorating, stripping and disposal.
- Architectural stainless steel signage staining and corrosion investigations.
- Building cladding failures and delamination.
- Deposit and blockage determination in piping, filters and extraction ducting.
- Concrete and mortar incorrect mixture cracking failures evaluated by XRF.
- Heat exchanger corrosion and blockage issues.
- Dust and debris analysis.
- Air conditioning corrosion failures.
- Dust analysis and tracking down the source of the dust from air handling systems.
- Decorative metal plating cracking and delamination failure investigations by optical microscopy, metallography and metallurgy as well as SEM/EDX.
